PROJECT
“What’s it Like? – Beirut” is an experimental short film created in collaboration with Lebanese dancer Paula Saba. Across three locations in Beirut, movement becomes a language for exploring passion, anger and anxiety.
Born from a spontaneous collaboration between two artists, the project asks a simple question: What happens when we choose to feel rather than explain?

Concept
Emotions & Location
Each emotion is paired with a location that reflects its character. The choreography responds directly to the surrounding architecture, turning the city itself into an emotional landscape. Paula embodies every emotion with a distinct intention, while the camera mirrors and extends her movement to reinforce each emotional state.
Visual Language
Movement and cinematography were developed together rather than separately. Instead of documenting the choreography, the camera reacts to it -becoming another performer within the scene.
Production
Filmed over one day in Beirut, every scene was developed collaboratively on location. Choreography, framing and movement evolved naturally in response to each environment.
Post Production
After filming, the project continued between Cologne and Beirut. Through a collaborative editing process, rhythm, color grading and visual transitions connected the three performances into one continuous emotional journey.

Exhibition
Premiered as the central piece of the exhibition “Kunst & Krach” at Helios in Cologne, the film is intentionally presented within exhibitions, festivals and selected portfolio screenings rather than published online.
